Thanks to Miriam for this nomination. I am always humbled when fellow bloggers choose to read my pieces, let alone award me for doing what I love to do. Please do check out The Shower’s Of Blessings blog by Miriam for some great posts. Also check out my nominees and the links to their great blogs!

Rules for the nominees:

  • Display the award logo/image on your blog
  • List the rules.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to the nominator’s blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well

  • Notify your nominees by leaving the nomination link in the “comment” of their blog
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice, with one weird or funny question (specify)
  • Share the link(s) to your best post(s)

Three random facts about me:
1. I have 4 tattoos
2. I am 5ft 7in tall
3. I work in retail quality control (self-employed)

Questions asked by Miriam:

1. Have you had a crush on your teacher as a teenager?

I had a Geometry teacher in high school that was quite handsome. Yes, I did crush on him- however his wife was my French teacher… awkward. 😉

2. If you had the power to change one thing in your past, what would that be?

I don’t believe that I would go back and change anything. Through all the hardships I have learned things about myself and others. They were times where I grew in strength and as a person. I like who I am, so I cannot in all honesty say I would do things any differently.

3. Which country is your next dream vacation, and what made you want to go there?

I would really like to go to Europe. It is hard for me to choose just one spot. I love the idea of the history and art in England, Italy and France. I do wish to go to Ireland at some point too as my husband’s heritage (and our last name) is Irish.

4. Do you think it is okay to keep secrets even between best friends?

No, never. My husband is my best friend and I would never feel it was okay to keep secrets. It is not a way to hold a relationship together by keeping things from one another. I feel that secrets often lead to lies.

5. If you could be transformed into something else, what would be your preference, and why?(weird)
As a lover of the Sci-Fi world I would quite like to be able to transform into a Vampire. The Victorian era would be my preference, with much romance and mystery.

My Nominees:

Please feel free to accept or decline the nomination. It is my privilege to nominate you. Perhaps you don’t accept awards, are all awarded out or you may just have limited amount of time, and you must set your priorities. Just know, I enjoy your blog and wanted to take time to point you out.

Blogger Recognition Award

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ― Sylvia Plath

Blogger Recognition Award

Many thanks to Beatrisz for this nomination and do check out her blog. I am always quite humbled when fellow bloggers read my pieces, let alone recognize me in such a way as this!

How my blog started:

I originally attempted to blog three years ago, but to no avail. I gave up as quickly as I began, the timing in my life was just all wrong. Now, here I am, a fresh start only a few months ago. Encouragingly, I have 450 followers and growing. It is about timing, certainly, but also about where you are in life. I have found a lot more flow and positive feedback with each day that I am on this journey.

My advice to new bloggers:

I would certainly not consider myself a seasoned blogger, but I will give a few tips that I have found useful.

  1. Be consistent with reading, liking and commenting on your fellow blogger’s pieces. Genuine interest begets genuine interest. The more you follow others and become a presence, the more traffic from those truly interested is produced on your posts.
  2. Don’t get caught up in numbers- as in followers, likes or comments. When you begin it can be easy to get caught up in numbers. This can be discouraging or it can be exhilarating. In either case you lose focus of what is important. Personally I feel that to be, connecting with others and writing.
  3. Make goals. Whether you are blogging for a hobby or working towards a career, goals are a great way to find success. Personally, one goal I made, set a certain amount of time daily/weekly aside to blog. Otherwise, you can easily see time slip away having accomplished little to nothing.
  4. Use the Daily Prompt. It is a great way to be inspired daily and also to connect with fellow writers. Also, when you are struggling for topics or other points of inspiration, there are many great ideas on sights such as Pinterest. One of my favorites “100 Lifestyle Blog Post Ideas.”
  5. Have fun!

My Nominees:

  1. WhippetWisdom
  2. Memoirs Of The Quiet
  3. There Are More Poets Than Stars In the Firmament

If you choose to participate simply answer the two questions above and add your nominees. Be sure to link back so I can read your answers.

Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshinebloggersaward

I am appreciative to Just A Simple Country Girl for this nomination, I suggest you check out her page. I am always grateful when a mutual blogger takes time out to read or comment on a post of mine, let alone nominate me for an award. Many thanks!

My blog has many components to it. I enjoy writing immensely, but it has also become a great therapy for me. Most of all, just keeping it real- because afterall we are all human and can connect in some way through life experiences.

Here are the rules for the Sunshine Blogger Award: (If you choose to participate)

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Answer their questions
  3. Nominate fellow bloggers who you follow
  4. Give them ten questions to answer

My question from Just A Simple Country Girl:

  1. Have you ever been fired from a job? Yes, I was fired from a “Doggy Daycare” after only working there for 3 days, LOL! A long time ago!
  2. What was the last movie you saw in theatres? I have gone to see Suicide Squad, TWICE! I am definitely more of an action, sci-fi and adventure movie goer, which surprises many.
  3. What has happened to you as a result of blogging? It has been an amazing way to learn about new people and places I’d never have known otherwise. It has also been great therapy for me, I wish I’d started sooner.
  4. What is a bad habit you have that you wish to correct? Oh, tough one…I can be bad about interupting people when I get to talking too much.
  5. Where do you enjoy blogging the most? Well, I have really only used WordPress, but I love to share on Facebook and Twitter too.
  6. What is your favourite gift you’ve ever received? My two kids for sure, after my husband. I know, it’s clichet.
  7. Have you ever experienced something close to a fairytale? I would say that meeting the love of my life was a pretty close thing. But, honestly I don’t believe in fairytales, as relationships don’t work like that.
  8. If you could have a meal with anyone dead or alive who would it be and why? I loss my best friend five years ago, that was my Gram. She taught me so much about life and how to do so many things in my adult life. I miss her all the time and would love to spend one more meal with her.
  9. What is #1 on your bucket list? I would really like to see parts of Europe, I love traveling but have not been further than the Cayman Islands and parts of the US.
  10. Have you experienced being in love? If so, what was the moment you knew you were in love? I have been married for 18 years and yes it is love. I knew I wanted to marry him very soon after meeting him, but I was also very young. Love looks so different to me after all these years. I’m not sure that you can truly love someone until you have seen the depths they are truly willing to go for you. I love my husband now more than I ever did when we first said those three little words. I have learned “love” is a verb, it is full of actions.

My nominations:
