As a photographer horizons have always held a lot of meaning and beauty for me. The idea that really every day holds a new horizon with its beginning and its end, such an amazing analogy in itself. I hope you enjoy these images I’ve captured over the past month. ~Mac
One of my favorite quotes:
“Sunsets. The illusion either above the horizon or below it. When day and night are linked in a way that cannot be one without the other, yet they cannot exist at the same time.” ~Ebelsain Villegas

The beach is my confidant and my heart. It is where I go when I need sweet solace from the troubles of the world. To go and relax, breath in the sea breeze, listen to the lull of the waves, cry of the gulls and be one with nature. My soul yearns for it, desires it, really. To be at the sea, this is a way of life.© ~Mac
“And if the earth no longer knows your name, whisper to the silent earth: I am flowing. To the flashing water say: I am.” ~Rainer Maria Rilke
A walk on the beach turned into an amazing view of rippled sand. As the tide heads out pools will slowly trickle and leave these amazing grooved lines back to the sea. The sun captures the zigzags and seashells, making a beautiful scene.

“She loves the serene brutality of the ocean, loves the electric power she felt with each breath of wet, briny air.” ~Holly Black
This past week Hubby and I got out to enjoy some of the last of the warmer weather. The temperatures were spoiling us for mid-November, ranging from 70° to 80° (20° to 30° C). Multiple outings included strolls at various locations and rides in the convertible. A late afternoon walk on the beach was one of our adventures.
This time of day finds the tides out. Before you even see this to be the case, you can smell [it]. There is an aromatic pungency to the wind. I would describe this as a mixture of dead fish, sea weed and salt water. It hits you at first, but the constant breeze quickly whisks it away. Besides, once you see the view, walk in the sand and hear the water- your other senses take over completely. Caught up in the beauty, the smell seeps into you and just seems to belong. I suppose it is just all part of the beach-life experience.
Here are some photos I thought I’d share from our escapade. With the tide out, it makes for a great opportunity to capture beautiful reflections in the wet sand. I forgot to bring my good camera, so the iPhone had to do. Enjoy!
Gonna Be A Scorcher
Full of longing
My heart yearns
Heat so intense
That look burns
Quiet but strong
Far from placid
At first caressing
Then turns acid
Face in towel
Toes in sand
Kiss my skin
Warm my hand
You’re my drug
Need a fix
Make me happy
No more tricks
Worth the wait
Light my torch
Some like it hot
I want to scorch
Sweat from pours
Quench my thirst
Want for more
Summer comes first
Better wear sunblock

I walk a line between dark and light, never wavering from the path
Treading this road so carefully, I was not given any map
I often wonder at the darkness, and what is up ahead
But then, I look into the light and gaze upon it instead
I will continue on my way, for the choice is clear to me
To stay on the line between day and night, there’s so much more to see

Tuesday Photo Challenge: Continuation
Birds Of A Feather
One is quite lonely.
Two is a pair.
Three is a gathering.
Fours a bit rare.
Five flock together.
Some choose the water, others choose air.
Whether alone or together, birds of a feather. ©SBDMB (MM)
Discover Challenge: Numbers
Sometimes colors are brilliant, then there are times they are muted and ordinary. In either case, we can choose where our focus lies. Even in darkness, the outline of beauty can show through if searched for hard enough. ©SBDMB (MM)

Walking along the beach recently I came across this couple building a huge sandcastle by the water’s edge. Not a couple of kids mind you, a couple of more mature folks. I was quite impressed with their efforts and sheer determination. It really was quite impressive and photo worthy. Not a scene one comes across every day, certainly. A great reminder that one is never too old to have fun!
There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.” ~Sophia Loren

Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge
Recently I went to the beach to watch the sunset. As I walked along, an eerie fog rolled in (see on right of photo) as if rising from the sand. As the day comes to a close, the air on the beach cools, meeting the heat of the day and it creates this effect. It is actually quite fantastic, a bit mystical and certainly gives a touch of eeriness to the beach.
