From Sunrise To Sunset

In the city of Myrtle Beach I always have opportunities to visit local areas where I can capture amazing sunrises and sunsets. In these photos you will see the sunrise from the shore of Myrtle Beach and the sunset captured from a market area named “Broadway At The Beach.”

Now, while these moments were planned, there are times that I see things around this beautiful city I would like to photograph, but I do not have my DSLR camera in hand. I have often wished that there was a compact DSLR camera with the same capabilities to capture in high-megapixel quality and powerful enough to take even the best low-light photos. A camera that I could easily carry in my pocket or throw in my purse. Recently I was introduced to The Light L16 Camera, developed by Light.co, and they have developed just this style of compact camera. I was thrilled to be asked to be part of their #VantagePoint Project which you can check out on Pinterest

My Lost Property

DSC_0036 (2)

Reflective by Mac©

I’m feeling something’s gone in me, but don’t know what it could be
And yet my heart is still all in tact, don’t know then what it is I lack
Often it seems to be very hard to cope, maybe I have lost all my hope
But my soul is surely in its place, and a smile is still across this face
Found my mind and it seems hazy and yes it’s even a wee bit crazy
Maybe I’ll not find my way, I could give up, look again another day

But on and on I’ll search some more, coming to this peaceful shore
Up to the water’s edge and take a look, realized that I have mistook
Many things my reflection shows to me, finding who I’m ment to be
In the search to find what’d been removed, I realized I’ve improved
So if you find my lost property, will you please let it go and set it free

Rainbows All Around

These photos were taken in Surfside Beach, SC; a very colorful little seaside town.  The following art piece was done by a local artist (Thomas Simpson, 2009). It is painted on the side of an entire restaurant. Quite eye-catching for this normal cinder block building.

You will find many places with very colorful houses, on the beach and off; they are on stilts  (as you will see often on the West Coast, but not as often on the East Coast). This is a beautiful place, just a 20 minute drive from Myrtle Beach and less tourist ridden. Many of these houses are for rent, weekly, monthly, exc. There are also locals and many great local restaurants within walking and golf cart distance.

The Ocean Song

dsc_0041-2

by Mac©

I could listen all night long to the sound of your rhythmic song

Your waves they splash to and fro as the waters ebb and flow

I shut my eyes, listen close as I hear the song you chose

A perfect pitch, a lucid role as you sing a tranquil solo

The melody touches deep, soothing me, I fall asleep

Sands of time are lost to me as I drift out to sea

Dancing on waters vast, but night will not last

So I bid you, adieu! Oh Ocean, I do love you©

Fly Free, Into Solitude

The silence is deafening, full of loneliness, emptiness
I wish to go away, flying free to the sea

New Horizons

As a photographer horizons have always held a lot of meaning and beauty for me. The idea that really every day holds a new horizon with its beginning and its end, such an amazing analogy in itself. I hope you enjoy these images I’ve captured over the past month. ~Mac

One of my favorite quotes:

“Sunsets. The illusion either above the horizon or below it. When day and night are linked in a way that cannot be one without the other, yet they cannot exist at the same time.” ~Ebelsain Villegas
