What kind of word is nattyWordPress? Argh!!
I used a thesaurus and found out it means some such thing about looks. Do tell me UK friends, is this word your doing? I suppose if I was dapper, dashing or dainty it would be a great adverb. But I quite hate it altogether! Change one letter and you spell nasty and that is all I can think of. Blah!
So in an effort to go on with writing for this word of the day- here’s a go at it!
There once was a man so dapper, but he was only a good napper
And a maiden of considerable looks, but she only could read books
But life isn’t all about fashions, you should also follow your passions
So if you are tempted to be vain, remember it’s okay to be plain©
Yearned for distinction but forgot who I am
Changed for others and I repressed myself
Masqueraded as someone I knew I was not
Searched for happiness in the wrong place
Had desired to please everyone and failed
Becoming fractured, my mirror shattered
Shards that no longer will go back together
Reflections in a million pieces looked at me
Helpless I gathered them hoping for solace
Blood ran from hands and yet I felt nothing
There I stood torn and bloodied by choices
No longer could I see the person I’d become
The weight of this all rested on my shoulder
So removing my mask I felt freedom at last
It was then I knew the mirror was my prison
If I could tell you one thing
Be true to yourself, always
If I could whisper two words
I’d want you to hear clearly
Let me speak slowly, “be you”
If I could shout three things
Loudly to the world, I’d say…
Do not apologize
For this is who you are
Let no one tell you who to be©
Women are a mystical creature. One that men have a very difficult time figuring out, quite often. To be a woman takes much patience and fortitude. We are the glue that often holds things together, yet we can be as fragile as a porcelain doll. We have hearts that are easily broken by life and souls that are easily turned cold. Abused and battered internally, we still must go forward- having in mind only those that rely so heavily upon our being strong.
How do we care for ourselves when it feels as though our insides are attempting to tear us in two? This is the great mystery that I have yet to discover, but here I am holding it together. I’m still standing, still pursuing dreams and passions. I refuse to let myself come apart! I refuse to let life have the victory over my being. Tapping into the reserves that life has yet to siphon from me, I will continue on, in pursuit of answers to this journey’s destination.© ~Mac
“Never confuse fashion and style. Fashion relies on unattainable looks on women with unrealistic bodies. Style is about utilizing the best aspects of you.” ~Stacy London
I have always loved fashion. I have been known to get drawn in by channels like E! and TLC, or with shows like “What Not To Wear” and “Next Top Model.” I love design, as I believe it really touches on the artistic parts of me. Perhaps in another life I was supposed to be a clothes designer. But, this is not what I am really about these days. Although I do sell some of my designs on Customized Girl, if you are interested in checking out my store. You can go to “Southern By Design.”
“Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it” ~Yves Saint Laurent
Maybe it is because I have matured or perhaps it is age, but I think that there are other things that are more important than one’s fashion. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in a well dressed and put together woman and what it says- that she cares enough about herself to take the time. But, I also believe that we can get too caught up in things unimportant and forget to focus on who we are. We are all unique and different, and it is individuality that sets us apart from others! “I still appreciate individuality. Style is much more intersting than fashion, really.”~Marc Jacobs
External beauty and even fashion sense can fade with time. But style is what we project, it is in a way, who we are. It is not something that you can buy at a cheap discount store or the most expensive spot on 5th Avenue. It is the person we create as we endeavor through life.
I’m getting all philosophical, sorry! My point is this- be the best you, you can be. Whether you choose to show who you are through fashion or some other passion, don’t make choices based solely on what is popular. Go with your convictions!
