The Traveler

“Cities were always like people, showing their varying personalities to the traveler. Depending on the city and on the traveler, there might begin a mutual love, or dislike, friendship, or enmity. Where one city will rise a certain individual to glory, it will destroy another who is not suited to its personality. Only through travel can we know where we belong or not, where we are loved and where we are rejected.” ~Roman Payne

Where Love Lives

“Love lives in the humblest of places. It doesn’t matter how big your house is, how nice your car is, how big your bank vault is…it only matters how much your heart can hold.”~Kate McGahan

Yellow Splendor

“I’ve come to believe that the true splendor of roses shine through their reflection in the eyes of our loved ones. That is why we give roses to people we love; to show them the reflection of beauty and splendor of love in our own eyes, as we see it in their eyes” ~Mawuena Addo, Roses in the Rainbow

Rugged Vessel

“Rugged Red” ©SBDMB

Rugged Vessel

Quickly passes every view
As the train clatters through

Chugs from town to country side
Traveling to places far and wide

Eyes of people whizzing past
Glimpse of mountains hardly last

But, how I love the mighty sway
As the engine moves this way

Venturing over many trestles
Locomotives are rugged vessels

Tracks spread out in front of me
Just as a conductor longs to see!

I made a recent visit down to the local inlet and took some beautiful shots of seagulls. They perched so perfectly in a row for me. The greens were so vivid and the shadows, mingled with reflections off the water, were magnificent!

Window To The Soul

“An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.” ~Martin Buber

This is my “baby” Willow. She is a character, full of expression both vocally and physically. One of her best traits are her intense eyes, which are amazing hues of gold. I love that they match the brilliant tones in her fur. She can be difficult to capture as she is often in motion, so this is a treasure. You can view some of her more active and humorous poses here.

Sky Dancing Feathers

“No one is free, even the birds are chained to the sky.”~ Bob Dylan

Some of my favorite photos and most difficult to capture are birds in flight off the shore. They truly are magnificent creatures and I specially love watching them dive into the water or catching gusts of wind and gliding on it. This week’s entry~Cees Fun Foto Challenge: Feathers

Something Blue

“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” ~Karl Lagerfeld

Something Borrowed, Something Blue~Southern By Design

This past weekend one of my Lil’ Sisters got married. She is very sentimental and this was such a beautiful moment, I had to catch it. Both of our grandmas have passed away in the last few years. My sister received a brooch from both of their things- one a giraffe (as one Gram was a great collector of giraffes) and the other was blue jeweled flowers (something blue, from our other Grandma). These were both pinned to the ribbon on the back of her bouquet she carried.
