Let Me Count The Ways

blue-eyes_2447185b

The strength of your stance
Brute smell and rugged attire
I cannot deny you set me afire

Let me count the ways

How did I exist before your smile?
Intense blue eyes that pierce me
Golden hair, makes the sun envy

Let me count the ways

But best, how you make me laugh
The ways your humor really flows
Between the lines, sarcasm expose

These are the ways I love you

Don’t Mind the Gap

girl-writing-on-the-sofa-picjumbo-com

My brain is such a confusing space. I have times where the thoughts flow, unencumbered by the world around me. I can be sitting in the midst of pure confusion and they seep from my fingers onto the keys. Then, there are the moments when [they] are held captive. As though my mind dominates and leaves words bound on the tip of my tongue.

A frustration for every writer, I can imagine, these elusive words. Having a dictionary of definitions available to me and yet unable to construct. Perhaps it is sorrow or pain which holds me back. Emotions and Composers have such an intricate relationship. One that can be fractured by the smallest of cracks. I do find that thee artistic side of my brain feels more free when I am in a happy or in a contented place. Is it endorphins, perhaps, giving my brain the release it so desires? Or, am I prepared to relinquish control in this state of euphoria?

Most irritating though is when words wish to come to me in my sleep. Pouring in with such vigor, at times waking me from deep slumber. Not as dreams, but as concepts and ideas, which cannot be silenced or snuffed out by the dark! I can try to ignore them and hope they let me rest in peace. But, as if defying me, I am plagued then by insomnia. And, if I have success, the words and ideas from the night will have vacated my mind by dawn. Leaving me to feel as though a great chasm exists between my mind and my keyboard. Moving me towards a feeling of incompletion.

Birds Of A Feather

Birds Of A Feather

One is quite lonely.

Two is a pair.

Three is a gathering.

Fours a bit rare.

Five flock together.

Some choose the water, others choose air.

Whether alone or together, birds of a feather. ©SBDMB (MM)

Idle About Town

“Landscapes of great wonder and beauty lie under our feet and all around us. They are discovered in tunnels in the ground, the heart of flowers, the hollows of trees, fresh-water ponds, seaweed jungles between tides, and even drops of water. Life in these hidden worlds is more startling in reality than anything we can imagine. How could this earth of ours, which is only a speck in the heavens, have so much variety of life, so many curious and exciting creatures?” ~Walt Disney Company

A Photo Quest

“The longest journey is the journey inwards. Of him who has chosen his destiny, Who has started upon his quest for the source of his being.”~Dag Hammarskjold

Thought I would share with you my quest through the week in photos. I have had multiple opportunities, whether out-and-about with hubby, going to the store or another errand. I have been trying to keep my eye out for a chance to snap a picture and the quest has been worth it, so I hope you enjoy.

What Makes A Hero?

“I am of certain convinced that the greatest heroes are those who do their duty in the daily grind of domestic affairs whilst the world whirls as a maddening dreidel.” ~Florence Nightingale

What truly makes one a superhero? In my little corner of the world I cannot think of a better hero to name than the person I call Hubby and my kids call Dad. Just some of his attributes include- being kind, patient, humble and putting others first. He is highly committed to our family and also to his faith. His love and support even on the hardest of days is truly a superpower! He isn’t perfect, but as Kevin Costner said, “Real heroes are men who fall and fail and are flawed, but win out in the end because they’ve stayed true to their ideals and beliefs and commitments.”

I am grateful for his willingness to teach our kids and when he takes time out for them- just to do the “little things.” He has many talents, but does not flaunt his abilities. As my best friend he so often considers my wants and needs before his own. He works hard to provide for us and when others are in need his charity is very generous. Often when doing kind deeds it is in secret so that no one knows it is he who did them. A truer hero I could never meet. He may not be out saving lives, but in my eyes he is a great man, husband and dad.

“Yes, there are plenty of heroes and heroines everywhere you look. They are not famous people. They are generally obscure and modest people doing useful work, keeping their families together and taking an active part in the health of their communities, opposing what is evil (in one way or another) and defending what is good. Heroes do not want power over others.” ~Edward Abbey

An Ode To Coffee

Oh coffee wonderful coffee

How early in the morning you’re poured to greet me

Before my eyes are barely open your aroma is sweet upon the air

I owe my very life to the single serve ability of my coffee maker

Without you I would be thrown into thee endless waiting abyss

Truly “The bean of my existence”

Oh coffee wonderful coffee
