Laugh A Little

“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.” ~Audrey Hepburn

It is easy to get into a discouraged frame of mind these days. Just turn on the news for two minutes or open your web browser. We are bombarded with negativity! So find the humor in a moment, make somebody smile or laugh at yourself. Life is too short to spend it being sad. I hope I can give you a little chuckle for your day. ~Mac

Don’t you hate…

A Terrible Rhyme

Things that like to jiggle, well, I could only think of Jello

Or you could go with fat, but I hate to talk like that

There is also jelly or jam, oh, I skipped the Spam

Dancing Aunt Betty, but that really isn’t pretty

Then gummie bears, at the movie we’ll share

They stick in my tooth that’s just the truth

Can we drop this word? It is so absurd

Things that jiggle or like to wiggle

What gross verbs, both distrubs

WordPress prompts depress

Can I suggest “Zest”?

No? Then go!©

The Yuck Factor

There are some words that just shouldn’t be said

The sound of them going through my head

Makes me want to get sick

And gives me a tick

Words like juicy, moist, crusty and gunk

These really put me in a nasty funk

My stomach ups and churns

In other words it turns

So talk to me of things that are full of class

Seriously do not to want to hear crass

This does not mean I’m a prude

I just mean don’t be rude

Some words just have this terrible yuck element

And I wish people would be more hesitant

To use them as adjectives or verbs

Oh how this greatly perturbs

So, please stay away from words like gooey

Oh and also do not say the word dewey

Okay, when talking just be mindful

Use words that are delightful

A Laughing Matter

“Nothing is a joke with me. It just all comes out like one.” ~Lorrie Moore, Like Life

Funny-quotes-humor-life-inspirational-footprints-1I love humor, specially the super sarcastic kind. When I was in high school I had this history teacher that was uber sarcastic. No one liked him, but I adored him. One of my first days with him, he said the most hilariously sarcastic joke, which of course no one in class got, but me. I was dying laughing and he just looked at me with a twinkle in his eye, we were pals from then on. I’m not sure he ever liked a student, but he always joked around with me. Little did he know that I come from a long line of family members with thee ability to mingle humor with sarcasm on command. His classroom was like being at home. I had him for two years. But, being the oldest of five, my siblings all got to hear about me in the years to come. I’m pretty sure I was always his favorite!

“I am in full possession of the amazing power of being sarcastic.” ~Sarah Rees Brennan

Now-a-days I’ll tell you where the sarcasm resides, in my house! I have been blessed with two kids who have inherited this wonderful ability to be sarcastic with the best of them (namely me). They have their dad’s seriousness, mix in a pinch of humor and poof, you have straight faced, no bars hold, sarcasm. It’s interesting to me how you really don’t have to teach this. I mean I never sat through a class called “Sarcasm 101” and I certainly didn’t have my kids do so either. Yet, here we are, another generation with this wonderfully dark talent. To say I am a proud parent would understate how I feel when one of them lets fly a zinger in my direction!
