Fear Anchors

Reblogging from back in December. One of my favorites…

1d67f19728a40a655155a2f723205f87

Anchor that held me
Has left the sea floor
Not sure where it went
Isn’t there any more

Swaying and bobbing
The ocean has taken
I look to the captain
But he has forsaken

Swept with the tides
No harbor in sight
Just miss the rocks
Lost to great fright

Then I remembered
Was of my own choice
I must let it all go
Have my own voice

Taking the controls
My vessel, my own
Direction of choosing
Even though all alone

No longer I’m pulled
No longer you steer
No longer I’m anchored
No longer I’ll fear©

Sunrise Kisses

“True love is the tide that pulls out to sea, but always returns
to kiss the shore at sunrise.” ~Shannon L. Alder

Reality’s Dream

whales_dream_12237

Floating through the vibrant sky

Watching birds flying by

Clouds above and clouds below

No idea where I will go

Don’t know much about such dreams

Reality’s altered so it seems

Saw a boat pass me without a crew

Alone it rowed as it flew

Then fishes blowing lots of bubbles

A moment I forgot my troubles

Surfer dude with a great big board

Told of places he’d explored

Still on I floated without much care

Wishing only you were there

Dolphins swam and talked with me

All about this great sky sea

A shooting star waltzed with the moon

On the sands of time at noon

Mr. Turtle brought me an umbrella drink

It was on his back, I really think

But not sure I trust my eyes much anymore

Just saw a shark walk on the shore

The crabs and lobsters, urchins and starfish

Told me I could have what I wish

No longer did I want to dream of this sea

Waking up I found I was still me

A mermaid in love with this vast blue ocean

Forever together with much devotion

To feel you gently caress my hair and skin

You push back as I move my fin

Yes, there is no place that I would rather be

Just a mermaid under the sea©

A Way Of Life

The beach is my confidant and my heart. It is where I go when I need sweet solace from the troubles of the world. To go and relax, breath in the sea breeze, listen to the lull of the waves, cry of the gulls and be one with nature. My soul yearns for it, desires it, really. To be at the sea, this is a way of life.© ~Mac

I Am Flowing

“And if the earth no longer knows your name, whisper to the silent earth: I am flowing. To the flashing water say: I am.” ~Rainer Maria Rilke

A walk on the beach turned into an amazing view of rippled sand. As the tide heads out pools will slowly trickle and leave these amazing grooved lines back to the sea. The sun captures the zigzags and seashells, making a beautiful scene.

Wreckage

Wreckage

Anchor in the sea below
Darkness has become your tomb.
Waves above tease you with their playing
Reflecting light dances from the moon.

Anchor in the ocean deep
Coral reefs have become your bed.
Seaweed like a blanket caresses
Swimming fish laugh around your head.

Anchor in the sea below
Water has become your fray.
Once a friend to ship and captain
Lost to rust and to decay.

Anchor in the ocean deep
Sandy floors have become your keeper.
Crustaceans creep among your bones
And surely salt has become your reaper.

Sides Of The Sea

“There was a magic about the sea. People were drawn to it. People wanted to live by it, swim in it, play in it, look at it. It was a living thing that as unpredictable as a great stage actor: it could be calm and welcoming, opening its arms to embrace its audience one moment, but then could explode with its stormy tempers, flinging people around, wanting them out, attacking coastlines, breaking down islands…” ~Cecelia Ahern

It always amazes me how beautiful the ocean can be at one moment and how angry and aggressive it can turn the next. Nothing more surprising and sad than to realize the destruction from these horrific storms that come out of the water. Really a “Jekyll and Hyde” of characters is hidden within the sea.

By now most people are aware of this huge hurricane name “Matthew” that has and continues to devastate thee Atlantic. From Cuba, Haiti and the Bahamas, now headed for The States. Florida soon to be hit by a Category 3 to 4, many evacuated or in evacuation mode. Truly a scary event and the worst to hit since 2005.

Living on the coastline of South Carolina, our family has been in preparation for the past few days. Buying water, non-perishable foods, filling gas and propane tanks, as well as buying batteries. Today Hubby and Son have worked on getting the hurricane shutters in place and all lawn items have been moved indoors. They will soon be helping a neighbor do the same.

Thankfully we are outside thee evacuation zones that have been set for our area. These zones are due to not just one’s proximity to the ocean, but also the sea level. We are prayerful that by the time it gets to our area on Saturday it will be a “Category 2” or even less. Next will just be to ‘hunker down’ and perhaps some family board games or movie marathons (if we don’t lose power).

So much unpredictability, such is the way of weather and the sea.

Time For What’s Important

On this particular morning the sky looked like God’s canvas. The colorful clouds, in beautiful hues, appeared as painted on brush strokes. It was amazing!

“Never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under!”~C. JoyBell C.

I adore sunrises and sunsets, as I’ve mentioned before. Since moving to the beach just over a year ago I have found my greatest joy is to make time to get up for the sunrise. I hope that I never take this beauty for granted. Life is fragile, we must take time to enjoy every aspect of this beautiful world!
