My Camera and I

My Camera and I

Me and my camera
My camera and I

Clicking and snapping
Zooming and flashing

At times film is great
But digital is first rate

Cropping and sharpening
Blacken and whitening

Beautiful fountains
Lofty white mountains

Landscapes and a sunrise
People and some fireflies

We go together
Like birds of a feather

Me and my camera
My camera and I

A Journey In Words

A Journey In Words

Today was amazing
Today was the worst

I know it all
I’m so confused

He loves me
He loves me not

Life is so beautiful
Life is so messy

I can’t wait to grow up
I wish I was young again

Pages curl and words blur
But still I write on

Dear Diary

Anchor in the sea below
Darkness has become your tomb.
Waves above tease you with their playing
Reflecting light dances from the moon.

Anchor in the ocean deep
Coral reefs have become your bed.
Seaweed like a blanket caresses
Swimming fish laugh around your head.

Anchor in the sea below
Water has become your fray.
Once a friend to ship and captain
Lost to rust and to decay.

Anchor in the ocean deep
Sandy floors have become your keeper.
Crustaceans creep among your bones
And surely salt has become your reaper.

Difficulty With Trust

I have been failed by people over the years which has led to my difficulty with trust. I have seen so much hypocrisy and felt the sting of immense betrayal. As a friend I believe in being committed and loyal. Why are these such hard characteristics to find in many these days? But there is One that will never leave me or turn on me.

I can say with all honesty, my trust and faith in the Lord has not wavered. I believe that He is always there for me. Even when the journey has been difficult, scary and at times unbearable. I know that I am always able to rely on my faith- a source of strength, comfort and healing for me. And yes, through these trials, I have grown, learned and even soared!

A Cat and Her Window

You promised me an open window
To feel the breeze on my whiskers
Hear the birds as they speak to me
And to smell the newly cut grass
But yet, I find it closed, you lied!

Cultivate Yourself

“Apply yourself both now and in the next life. Without effort, you cannot be prosperous. Though the land be good, You cannot have an abundant crop without cultivation.” ~Plato

1000 Wishes For You

“A Japanese legend indicates that anyone who folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish. Sadako Sasaki was a Japanese girl who died from radiation sickness from the A-bomb dropped on Hiroshima. She wanted to fold 1000 cranes before her death at the age of 12. There is a peace monument to her memory in Hiroshima, and people from all over the world send paper cranes to the site.” Source

My wish for you is that you live a long and happy life, full of peace and joy. Moments of sadness will bound to be present, but from those I hope you flourish and grow. You may also find there will be times you fall down and fail, these too will be occasions to learn from. May you weather the storms of life with calm and thrive in the sunshine of happiness. When life gives you lemons I hope you make sweet lemonade or margaritas! And, most of all, I wish for you- family and friendships through your journey in life. Those that walk beside you for companionship and good conversation, or in times where you need held up, those that are willing to aide you. But most of all, those that love you unconditionally. These are my wishes for you. ~MM©

The Fisherman’s Craft

The Fisherman

In and out I watch you cast

Never wavering from the rhyme

Reeling in your hook at last

Nothing on the line

Wonder if you’ll get a fish

Or do you really care

Is it really the catch you wish

Or just the need for air

Never Stop Having Fun!

“Even though you’re growing up, you should never stop having fun.”~Nina Dobrev

This past weekend one of my Lil’ Sisters tied the knot. Us five siblings enjoyed a moment of pure fun! This moment was my favorite- doing the Macarena on the dance floor together! These times together are few and far between as we grow up and move further apart, literally. This brief snap-shot in time will truly be cherished. Fun!
