The Love Of Food

52 Week Photo Challenge~Week 2~Food

“There is no love sincerer than the love of food.” ~George Bernard Shaw

This would be considered a picture of perfection for me. Coffee and a cinnamon roll are my two favorite things. Not healthy, but when I want to begin my day with a splurge, this is it!

Never Stop Having Fun!

“Even though you’re growing up, you should never stop having fun.”~Nina Dobrev

This past weekend one of my Lil’ Sisters tied the knot. Us five siblings enjoyed a moment of pure fun! This moment was my favorite- doing the Macarena on the dance floor together! These times together are few and far between as we grow up and move further apart, literally. This brief snap-shot in time will truly be cherished. Fun!

Sit A While

“When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing – just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?”~ Ralph Marston

Sunday Trees ~ Photo Challenge

These are my entries for Becca’s (from On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea blog) Sunday Trees – 247 challenge.

“Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don’t see what goes on underground – as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don’t see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree.”~ Joyce Meyer

I visited this small, historical, coastal town this spring; came across a few beautiful and unique, trees. I love the older structures with them. I always think of the things these aged trees have seen and witnessed in their long lives.

This Color Is Called Life

“Paradoxically though it may seem, it is none the less true that life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” ~Oscar Wilde

I come from a line of wonderful artists on my father’s side. My great-grandmother did oil painting, my grandmother did acrylic painting and color pencil, my father does color pencil, water color and photography, my uncle did color pencil and drawing (had a career in commercial illustration), my aunt does drawings, I do paints, drawing and color pencil and now my daughter is amazing at drawing and cartooning (she wants to go into this for a career). So, needless to say the word Paint brings to mind lots of found ideas and feelings.

“Through a painting we can see the whole world.”~ Hans Hofmann

I have always encourage creativity in my kids. I believe thee imagination that resides within a child is a precious commodity, squandered when it is not cared for properly. The glasses of innocence that a child sees the world and life through, then transposes it onto paper or into clay, can be an amazing image to behold.

art-awesome-quotes-rainbow-Favim.com-486814It saddens me that from a young age kids are required to sit at a desk and spend their days there. They are not given opportunity to strengthen their imaginations but told to hold them back and stay in the lines. Fine Arts are often the first things to be cut back when finances are tight and so, we have kids that will only see life in black and white.

“Life is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it you can.” ~Danny Kaye

I thought I’d share a couple paintings I did a few years back. I definitely don’t give enough time to my art, life certainly gets in the way of taking the time out that I should.  IMG_6228IMG_6214

Weekly Photo Challenge~Morning

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love—then make that day count!”― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Since moving to the beach I have enjoyed some spectacular mornings. This is my most recent visit enjoying the beauty of the sunrise… the first picture is my husband and daughter walking together.

Willow’s Three-Ring Circus

The many antics of Willow… She is our three year old, American short haired, tortoise-shell cat. Willow enjoys making life interesting around “her” house. Always keeping us entertained and good for a laugh. These are the daily activities that keep her going. She does not lay still for long and is very vocal. We love having her as part of our “Three Ring Circus” or maybe WE are part of her’s!

Keep Going Little Engine

“I do not fear failure. I only fear the “slowing up” of the engine inside of me which is pounding, saying, “Keep going, someone must be on top, why not you?”       General George S. Patton

The Narrow Trickle~Reflection

“Reflection~Looking back so that the view looking forward is even clearer.”

One of my favorite pass-times since moving to the beach is going to view the sun rise. I came across this narrow stream of water that was getting fed every time the waves came in. Usually when the tide is out all that remains is smooth sand, but the water had worked at this little alcove and it created this most beautiful effect as the light reflected off the zigzag of water along the beach.
