Our Yesterdays

When looking back I wonder where time went
For all the memories and moments spent
We laughed and cried, we hoped and dreamed 
Could conquer anything, or so it seemed
Remembering things that bring my eyes tears
Even more are the smiles in those years
But I feel it was all worth those tears we shed
Today all the way back to when we wed

As the day starts fresh and life begins all new
Won’t ever forget there was me and you
I believe our love was written up in the stars
Even though it may no longer be ours
The journey has deviated from what was to be
One way for you and the other for me
So as we part, both heading our separate ways
Together is left in all of our yesterdays©

Passion as a fire burns around my heart
Whenever you are near the embers start
Despair and pain wield swords to destroy
“I cannot get enough of you,” is their ploy
My mind is a blur, all I can think of is you
As I look into the future, all I see is us two

Against all who try to destroy me and you

Two halves of me don’t total one

I know longer have a sum

Tallied parts, I’m still not whole

Lost and have no control

Look each day but don’t equal

To check again is needful

No Longer A Whole

There’s a big hole in my heart, a piece that is gone
Didn’t realize it was missing, don’t know how long
I found it one day, it was on the floor broke in two
Saw a name on this piece, it was signed out to you

I gave you this part, you forgot that you loaned it
Tattered, bruised…Did you realize you owned it?
Drowned out my cries, forsaken and so hopeless
Lost to the sadness and will never feel wholeness

Light is fading from my eyes, see they are muted
Emotion is not here anymore, I have been looted
Coldness has crept in, and like a thief it is taking
And is just leaving behind a deep, painful aching

Searching for comfort, something to fill the void
Not sure I’ll find it, before my heart is destroyed
So I wander this life, not sure what I will look for
But I am so certain, don’t want to hurt any more©

To Self Be True

I need a reprieve from life, as a mother and a wife
Things are tough and just so damn rough
Slow down, smell a rose or touch sand with my toes
Or see a sunset as tears make my face wet

Alas I am a mom and wife, for this indeed is my life
So I go on with my days, for them always
First to be as they need, while insides beg and pleed
Can such selfishness hold any happiness?

Along the way I decided to be all of me, undivided
Giving in to what I feel, helps me to heal
It’s okay to have these times, we need to sometimes
I found to be content, I will need to vent

If you’re a spouse or a parent, no need to feel errant
Don’t allow guilt when life makes you wilt
Connect with emotions each day as you find the way
The strength is in you, to yourself be true©

I was adrift and had been lost at sea
Then you came along and rescued me
Winds were blowing and sails were torn
To be honest, I had given up and was worn
You threw me a rope and brought me to shore
Assured me waves could not harm me anymore
I had a tattered life, was just a broken, ugly vessel
Giving up, no longer with life did I wish to wrestle
But your love, like a lighthouse, showed the way
Leading me safely and guiding me into the bay
Wouldn’t let me give up, such a big supporter
Taught me to trust and how to drop anchor
Now I can sail and enjoy life on the ocean
All because of your amazing devotion©

Will Love Win?

A blatant disregard for emotion, love and devotion
This is how you see me, and that all I want is to be free
Look into my eyes and know, I really have no desire to go
If being apart is your need, nothing left but to beg and plead
Holding on to all we have built, but I’m left with so much guilt
Times we’ve spent, the care you’ve shown, don’t want to be alone
But aparently it’s not enough, because life is cruel and world is tough
And if we aren’t in it through thick and thin, then the darkness will win
But hope is strong and I believe love can prevail, or perhaps it is to no avail
So, if we go our seperate ways, just know, you’ll be in my heart for all my days©
