Blogger Recognition Award

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ― Sylvia Plath

Blogger Recognition Award

Many thanks to Beatrisz for this nomination and do check out her blog. I am always quite humbled when fellow bloggers read my pieces, let alone recognize me in such a way as this!

How my blog started:

I originally attempted to blog three years ago, but to no avail. I gave up as quickly as I began, the timing in my life was just all wrong. Now, here I am, a fresh start only a few months ago. Encouragingly, I have 450 followers and growing. It is about timing, certainly, but also about where you are in life. I have found a lot more flow and positive feedback with each day that I am on this journey.

My advice to new bloggers:

I would certainly not consider myself a seasoned blogger, but I will give a few tips that I have found useful.

  1. Be consistent with reading, liking and commenting on your fellow blogger’s pieces. Genuine interest begets genuine interest. The more you follow others and become a presence, the more traffic from those truly interested is produced on your posts.
  2. Don’t get caught up in numbers- as in followers, likes or comments. When you begin it can be easy to get caught up in numbers. This can be discouraging or it can be exhilarating. In either case you lose focus of what is important. Personally I feel that to be, connecting with others and writing.
  3. Make goals. Whether you are blogging for a hobby or working towards a career, goals are a great way to find success. Personally, one goal I made, set a certain amount of time daily/weekly aside to blog. Otherwise, you can easily see time slip away having accomplished little to nothing.
  4. Use the Daily Prompt. It is a great way to be inspired daily and also to connect with fellow writers. Also, when you are struggling for topics or other points of inspiration, there are many great ideas on sights such as Pinterest. One of my favorites “100 Lifestyle Blog Post Ideas.”
  5. Have fun!

My Nominees:

  1. Good advice! One tip I would add is to use social media such as twitter and Facebook as well as instagram (if you have a photo blog) to not only gain an audience but to find other bloggers to connect and network with.

  2. Thanks for the nomination. As I wrote on my sidebar, I started blogging in Feb of 2006 and by the time I stopped writing in 2012 I had seven blogs. It got way too much to handle. I started my poetry blog in July 2016 in order to repost my old work. I have joined several prompts to generate new work but am going to cut back as I want to concentrate on my fiction. I echo your advice about not stressing about the stats, if you have a good product people will find you.

  3. Hello dear friend Michelle
You are the winner of the gift from my blog for this week (an electronic copy of one of my painting pictures with your name, my approval and my signature).
You have to send me an email message (alozadea@gmail.com) with: * Your full name. * Your blog. * Your country. * The numbers (or names) of 3 paintings you like in my blog.
If your message does not arrive before the end of Friday. I would have to choose another candidate for the gift of this week in the waiting list.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………Alozade A.
